The climatic and environmental news of the present can be scary: we need ecological plans for the future!

Propose your ideas for your dream world!
- What will our homes look like? What will be the place of plants and animals in your dream future?
- What will be the jobs of tomorrow?
- How will we get around?
- What will we eat?
- What will be our leisure activities?
- Draw the future of your city/village, your country, or even your continent...
- Be between 8 and 19 years old
- Live in Canada in a French-speaking minority environment (=outside Quebec)
- Be French-speaking -no need to be perfectly bilingual
Participants will be divided into three age categories:
- Children (8 to 11 years old): Create your comic strip on one (1) page of paper (A4 or letter size) with the material of your choice!--Children (8 to 11 years old): Create your comic strip on a page of paper (A4 or letter size) with the material of your choice!
- Young teenagers (12 to 14 years old): Create your comic on two (2) pages of paper (A4 or letter size) with the material of your choice!--Children (8 to 11 years old): Create your comic strip on a page of paper (A4 or letter size) with the material of your choice!
- Teenagers (15 to 19 years old): Create your comic on two (2) pages of paper (A4 or letter size) with the material of your choice!--Children (8 to 11 years old): Create your comic strip on a page of paper (A4 or letter size) with the material of your choice!
The contest is open to individuals and groups of a maximum of two participants.

Si ta bande dessinée a été réalisée avec l’aide d’une intelligence artificielle ou application numérique (c’est à dire que tu n’as pas dessiné toi-même), tu rentres dans cette catégorie spéciale “nouvelles technologies”. Cette catégorie n’est pas éligible aux récompenses, mais sera présentée à part.
For each category:
- The first prize winner will receive a large set of drawing materials, his or her work professionally printed and framed, an Econova eco-notebook, and a comic book with an environmental theme.
- The second prize will receive a small set of drawing materials, an Econova eco-book, and a comic book with an environmental theme.
- The 3rd prize will be a comic book with an environmental theme and an Econova eco-book.
If an entire class has participated, and it contains one of the top three winners in its category, that class will also be offered a free workshop from the EcoNova catalogue*.
The best comics will also have the chance to be widely distributed in our networks, and possibly to be presented publicly in an exhibition.
All participants will receive a certificate of participation from EcoNova, as well as publication of their work on the EcoNova website.

Each project must present an original comic story (the scenario, the drawing and the characters cannot be directly inspired by an existing work).
- The comic strip must be produced on one or two pages depending on the age of the participant: - On the first panel must appear the title of the project as well as the pseudonym chosen by the author (this can be the name or surname). - -
- The format of the boards must be A4 or letter size
- Pages can be submitted in color or in black and white.
- Works can be done on paper or on digital tablet.
- All comics must be submitted in digital format on our website (the comic must be scanned or photographed if it is on paper): the board must be scanned in jpg, png, or pdf format in the highest resolution possible, and must not exceed 20 Mb.
- The project must be written in French, with at least 70% of the text. Bilingual works are accepted, provided that they use these languages: English, Aboriginal languages of Canada (for the latter two cases, a translation of the non-French texts will be requested).
- The work may be produced as a solo or duo: if there is more than one author for the work presented, the prizes will be shared equally among the co-authors of the winning work.
- Participants agree to send their works on paper to our office if they are selected, for the organization of an exhibition (they will be returned afterwards).

Née en 1998 à Orléans, Nina Six vit depuis huit ans en Belgique. Sa pratique narrative est intimiste, personnelle et fondée sur des souvenirs d’enfance. Son travail d’autrice l’engage à être attentive au sensible, au vivant ; au monde en mouvement avec lequel elle compose. Ses récits s’animent grâce aux tensions qui alimentent différentes thématiques abordées dans ses histoires.
En tant qu’autrice d’histoires qui s’adressent à un public varié, je porte une très grande importance aux messages véhiculés dans la lecture. Je tiens aussi à installer des tensions entre les différentes thématiques que j’aborde dans mes récits afin d’exposer les lecteur‧ices à leur propre esprit critique. Par exemple, dans ma dernière bande dessinée Les Pissenlits, je traite de sujets tels que le deuil et l’amitié sous la forme d’un récit initiatique.
J’essaie d’apporter des représentation varié de personnages, leurs corps, leurs couleurs de peau, leurs origines, leur statut social… leur manière d’être au monde afin que les lecteur‧ices puissent se sentir représenté‧es dans mes livres.
L’aspect social qui ressort des mes bandes dessinées est bien sûr intimement lié à l’environnement ‧écologique dans lequel j’évolue quotidiennement. Je vois la nature comme un tout ; regroupant forêt, ville, animaux, humains. C’est cette complexité d’existence que je tente de retranscrire dans mes histoires.
Je tiens à participer à ce concours de bande dessinée car je suis intimement convaincu de la puissance des livres à faire changer le monde. La lecture aide des lecteur‧ices à s’évader du quotidien et c’est une immense porte qui s’ouvre sur notre manière de voir le monde et d’être à la nature.
Autrice et illustratrice
Elle est l’autrice et l’illustratrice de Element the Graphic Novel Series, un roman graphique fantastique pour jeunes adultes qui traite du changement climatique et de ses effets sur notre santé mentale.
Elle est également enseignante dans le secondaire et se passionne pour l’éducation des jeunes sur le changement climatique et l’espoir d’un avenir meilleur pour la Terre, ayant une affinité pour la nature et le plein air.
Ce concours correspond si bien aux passions et aux projets de Brittany qu’elle est très impatiente de voir ce que les jeunes de tout le Canada vont créer pour ce concours de bande dessinée !
